Seconds and clearance items.
Many potteries destroy seconds or are very selective of the work they put up for sale. We have decided not to do this, as the embodied energy in the pot is there whether it is used or disposed of. The pots might as well be used for a wee while.
Using locally dug clay means there are sometimes 'defects' in some pots, since the clay is very variable. The defects can be in the character of old country pottery and quite acceptable, but sometimes the fault doesn't seem quite right, so they are offered here at a discount.
